Summer Season 2023
We are now taking registrations for the 2023 GCJBL Summer Competition.
The 8 round 2023 GCJBL Summer Competition is kicking off in October and
runs through till December.
Below is the relevant information for the 2023 Summer Season. Please be sure to read the following information before continuing to the registration and payment page
Started in 2020, the Central Stars are a not for profit basketball club aimed at allowing children to grow and develop through the game of basketball. Our junior program offers playing opportunities for participants aged 5 - 20 years.
All our coaching staff, team managers and administrative staff are volunteers. Our club could not function without the generous help of our volunteers. Every season, we put the call out for new coaches. Coaches are obviously a crucial part of our club, and without a designated coach, a team cannot enter the Summer Season of the GCJBL.
If you have a background in basketball, just love the game, or you’re up for a new experience, why not consider coming on board as a coach?! The club offers designated training sessions run by a professional coach before round 1, and continued support throughout the season. We will also work with you to design training programs that will help you best assist your squad to become the best team they can.
When it comes to game time, the support doesn’t stop. You’ll have a team manager with you on the bench and continued encouragement from our management committee and the whole club!
If you would like to volunteer as a coach, or have more questions about the role, please contact Shannon at shannon@centralstarsbasketball.com
The Central Stars offers team in a variety of divisions for the Under 10 mixed gender age group, and all age groups of the boys competition.
Due to the lack of participants, the Central Stars, cannot offer girls teams in all age groups.
If you are enquiring for a girls team, please email info@centralstarsbasketball.com with your players details and we will be in touch with more information.

Below are the proposed dates for the Summer Season.
Please be aware, Gold Coast Basketball reserve the right to change playing dates and times. The Central Stars endeavours to inform all players of alterations in the schedule as soon as practical, after becoming aware.
There will be split rounds this season. A split round is one round of the competition that takes place over multiple weeks.
During the split rounds, a team will play on only one of the proposed dates.
Please ensure that your player can make all of the games proposed before proceeding with the registration process.
We want all our players to have a great playing experience, and a key factor of this is team bonding. When players are continually missing games and training sessions, it impacts the whole team dynamic, which is not only evident in the gameplay but also the players attitudes toward each other.
Players who are continually missing training sessions and games may not receive as much game time as players who are proving their commitment to the team by attending training and games.
All game fixtures are issued by Gold Coast Basketball.
The Central Stars have no input to the location, court, time, or day that the games will take place.
The Central Stars will receive the fixtures for the season in late September. Fixture details will be posted to the TeamApp as soon as practicable.
Gold Coast Basketball reserve the right to change the game fixtures at any time. The Central Stars endeavour to inform all players of alterations in the fixtures as soon as practical after becoming aware.
Game fixtures are available to view from the Gold Coast Basketball website.
The Central Stars is a not for profit organisation and we endeavour to keep our club fees to the absolute minimum.
Club fees are used to cover the cost of hiring the training facilities, the game fees charged by Gold Coast Basketball allowing us to enter teams into the competition, as well as running and administrative costs of the club.
Central Stars Club Fees for the Summer 2023 season will be $180.00 for each player.
A link to the payment portal will be sent to the primary guardians email address on the 8th of September.
All players must be registered with Gold Coast Basketball and Basketball Queensland to be eligible to participate in the 2023 Summer GCJBL competition.
This payment is made directly to Basketball Queensland.
If your player already has current Gold Coast Basketball and Basketball Queensland registration, you will not need to pay this fee.
All fees must be paid before a player can take the court.
We will be accepting FairPlay vouchers for the 2023 Summer Season.
The players FairPlay Voucher will need to be emailed to shannon@centralstarsbasketball.com and will then be applied to your account.
At the Central Stars, we wish for all children to have access to community sports, irrespective of their financial situation. Please feel free to contact Shannon at shannon@centralstarsbasketball.com to discuss payment options.
Team training sessions are held on either Monday or Wednesday afternoon at St Kevin’s Primary School in Benowa, or Tuesday afternoon at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre.
Training sessions will start no earlier than 4:00pm.
Each team will participate in a weekly one hour training session.
Team training is set to begin from the week starting 11th of September.
There will be one team training session before the school holidays, then we break for the school holidays.
Back to training from the week starting the 2nd of October, with games also starting the same week.
The Central Stars uses the Stack TeamApp for the majority of our club communication.
Each team has a dedicated section that will display their teams game and training schedule and has a private chat function. There is also a RSVP function that will allow you to inform your coach and team manager that you will be at training and games.
It is very important that all players RSVP for training and games as it allows the coach to plan their training sessions and organise replacement players should we need to make up game numbers.
It is the mandatory that at least one profile is created for each player.
Please note, multiple profiles may be set up for each player. For example – 2 parent profiles can be created, as well as the player having their own profile.
Details for downloading and creating a profile will be supplied when your player is placed into their team.
As part of our requirements to enter teams into the Summer Season competition run by GCJBL, we are required to supply a person to operate the score bench during games.
A roster system will be employed to assign one player’s family to the duty for each round and will be released before round one of the competition.
The scoring system supplied is an easy-to-use system and the instruction manual can be found on the TeamApp. Hands on training will also be supplied on request.
Please contact your team manager to organise a training session or if you need to adjust the score bench schedule.
Alternatively, for a $10.00 donation to the club, we will organise a replacement to stand in during your allocated scoring week.
To take advantage of this offer, please leave a note in the comment sections of the week you are rostered on for.
This season, all players will need to have the reversible white and maroon version of the uniform.
The uniform cost for this season is $95.00.
Please indicate which size your player will need on the registration form.
Our uniforms are made in a standard size.
Uniforms will be delivered to the team training session the week starting the 2nd of October.
It is important to note that player numbers with the Central Stars are strictly limited. We have a limited capacity, and we reserve the right to close registration at any time.
We are also restricted as to the numbers of teams we can field by the number of coaching positions we can fill. If we cannot secure a coach for the team, unfortunately we will have to forfeit that teams place in the Summer Season competition. We will do all in our power to secure enough coaches, but as stated above, we rely on the assistance of volunteers. If you can assist the club with coaching, please contact Shannon at info@centralstarsbasketball.com
